Okay… I wasn’t going to post today, however, this morning while eating mangoes and fresh raspberries while reading my email, a post dropped into my ‘inbox’ from the blogosphere called ‘Medium’. The opening was so compelling that I had to read on, and more importantly, respond. This was due only in part given the fact that I am only two weeks home after spending most of the last five months in Israel. It was posted by a man named Dave Pell, who entitled his post, “My Mother has a question”.
The only memory more vivid than my six pointed hours weeping and ‘remembering’ while walking through the Holocaust in DC, is the haunting silence of Dachau. I understand why his parents had no need or desire to go past the front door.
On a recent trip to the US, I was horrified at the media’s anti-Israeli rant. To my heart, the sheet music for their notes of distain was anti-Semitism. Horrified to hear this cacophony audible once again, I realised how ‘anti-sentiments’, regardless of the ilk, run ad nauseam, viruses, highly contagious attitudes, that need only the fertile loam of an empty heart or brain to take root and grow.
I long ago gave up being a follower, a sheep. What I discovered is that leading from authenticity is a far more empowering place than the falsity of leadership that too often turns to ‘leadershit’, especially when entwined with the title “politician’. It’s for free people to claim their freedom, knowing that only when we exit the box of fear can we turn around, no longer being a follower who’s again led to the cliff where we’re easily pushed over the edge. This means learning to lead; it requires having clarity that fosters the courage, wellness and willingness to live noble values that arise in what we know to be ethically true and moral. It’s about realising that unity is simple but it’s the consequence of complex diversity. Understanding is the only thing that will take the razor sharp teeth out of projections, false shame and blame that is anchored in antiquated ethnic, religious, and political biases. All are tied to the repulsive nastiness of bigotry that takes root in narrow-minded attitudes which is covertly linked to like-mindedness, a closed system tied to a belief that they are ‘right’ and have the right to control.
Take a look at the kids born from two parents who are supposedly a ‘unity’ and it’s clear that unity only has one product; diversity. At the age of 11, I was smart enough to figure this out because it was clear that the five kids my parents brought into the world were all from different planets, and sad but true, the only time all our orbits ever intersected was at our parents funerals.
It’s time for the Human Family to start hearing what the politicians are really saying, and to no longer placate, roll over and play dumb while accepting the insanity of their politics thinking that Big Brother is going to keep them safe. There is too much purging going on in the world, most of it based on immoral legislation someone has laid down who thinks G-d is on their side; those who think they are chosen, special, or have the franchise to the front door to Heaven which of course entitles them to turn Earth into hell so that they can make money. This unholy union of politics, religion and business is called fascism.
Dave Pell’s mom was correct to ask the question. The problem as I see it is that too many keep living the question rather than going inside to find their answer and then to live that. When there’s no response to the question, clearly it’s time to ask a different question!
It is time to make new choices and realise that while most of us don’t remember making a choice to come into this lifetime, it is a gift that presents us with an opportunity to choose. Unless we want the genocide and ethnic cleansing to continue, it’s time to police our own attitudes and stop confusing prejudicial rules that maim and kill with the Law of Love that only heals. It is time to accept that the reflection of ‘me’ is ‘we’. We all matter, for each and every one of us is made of the same thing, stardust, and are enjoined with The Source of all creation.
