Reality, Truth and Knothingness

Spending time with those we love and care for is a source of remarkable joy. When mutual values are firmly in place, our hearts and minds are open, linked by the luminous bonds of acceptance, respect, and understanding. Amazing grace and peace prevail in the presence of such experiences as participants are free to appropriately express that which is both ‘true’ and ‘real’ for them in any given moment.

Sadly, such openness is sorely missing in our world today. Knowing about or spending time with those who are forced to live in conditions where there are deep differences from ours, often leads to discovering that what they live for is a universe apart from how we live. In the ‘Me first World’ too many of us occupy, far too many among us confuse ‘quality of life’ with a particular life style. We’re blinded by belief that what we have been taught to believe as true is simply an opinion, and not a fact.

  • How often do invest your energy in the belief that your point, perspective or opinion is true?
  • How often has such a ‘fact’ proven to be an erroneous assumption, or worse, a lie you bought without bothering to fact-check?
  • Do you have a habit of holding on to your position even when it’s been proven false?

In my opinion, my heart tumbled and my brain humbled many times over, there can be no such thing as an ‘atheist’. The reason is simple; no one with half a functioning brain says they possesses 100% of all the Knowledge. Ergo, their ‘conversion’ is instant; they are agnostics simply by admitting that outside what they think they’re certain about, something ‘divine’ –regardless of what name such divinity may be given– may in fact, exist.

EXISTENTIAL QUESTIONING VS. LIVING EXISTENTIAL LIES

Is it possible for humans to live together, simply being willing to experience and express what’s true for us in the moment without demanding another accept it as “The Truth”? The fact is that what’s true and real for any one of us, individually or as a group, is neither ‘the Truth’ or the ‘Reality’. Everything is subject to change whether we like it or not.

Living this day accepting and developing our best understanding of what we experience is what fills our world with grace. When openness, conscience and curiosity are our dominant characteristics, they fuse and lead us to amazing places where incredible connections are possible. Remember today how seldom information is knowledge. As you live your life wholly and fully, know that what you say and do impacts all that ‘is’ even though every ‘believing’ is simply your brain sketching nothing into nothing.

How you say what you say, and how you do what you do is what truly matters. From the space of Love, feel, speak and lovingly do whatever you do with love.

High Ground and High Water

rainstormThe story of a global flood is found embedded in cultures the world over, each recounting an inundation that wiped out the majority of the world’s population. According to all, everyone died except for those who heard that an inundation was coming and prepared. The preparation was building a habitat in which they could survive, a big boat we know as the Ark, a ship that was capable of carrying everything necessary to rebuild the world when the waters receded.

Where the story originated is —like many things— the subject of dispute. However, what’s of particular interest to me is that this is a point of agreement between the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions. The book of Genesis in the Torah, and the Quran all talk about a man named Noah and on teachers on all three sides of this fence agree that he was a righteous man of action for took what he heard led to a believing that it was as ‘true’, and he rose to the task given him; to work out his own salvation. Tales abound about how he was mocked, ridiculed and scorned by family, friends and neighbors who thought he was nuts, yet, he kept on building, refusing to deny his inner knowing —and whatever evidence he’d been shown— that a planetary clean-up was coming in the form of a storm of unimaginable proportions. Noah’s personal qualities and responsive actions make it clear today how others will work beside one who displays a strong will and a coherent capacity to lead without micro managing. Stories tell how he made sure that those with the competence were given the tasks that needed to be done. According to this story by living his own truth, Noah’s actions preserved his life; saved his family; those who worked with him before the water began to rise.

Think about it: you and me, the Royal We and the global zoo, life that arose out of stardust, are descendants of one who followed his vision and accepted his task, to build a boat. Noah and those who helped build the boat, took the long ride on his ship, a group of people with the ability to live and breathe through what sounds unbelievable. Such radical trust is clearly a quality that was and is necessary to rebuild when our worlds –inner and outer—are destroyed. I have no doubt that their time on-board led to many situations where they had to fine-tune their emotional skills in order to keep from throwing themselves or someone else overboard without a life ring.

Such skills are essential to rebuild the foundation for the Future we inhabit today.

  • Food for thought today:
How are you doing with lovingly taking care of your body?
  • Are you trusting your heart?
  • What are you doing to lift yourself when things get heavy?
  • Who do you know loves you unconditionally, accepting the realities of your warts and farts and growing with you through every false start?
  • What do you love doing?
  • What are best your skills?
  • What in your life needs to be clarified or fine-tuned?
  • How are you using your time?
  • What sends your spirit into flight?

Living the Quest or the questioning

there comes a timeAnd of course the ‘kicker’ in living our best answer is knowing when that answer is no longer valid. This is when we have to find the courage to take the time we need to ask the question again or find the new question. In this we are free to rediscover, speak and live our renewed answer.

A Request for Help

Simone webA wall mural I long ago painted of a tree in Monterey, California

Today I posted a true story on http://www.mereon.org, called “Simone’s Story”. It’s an account of a remarkable event that occurred in December 1997.

While the request we’re making may seem unusual, the strangeness will either expand or dissolve if you take a few minutes to read it. The story is shared in my new book, “A Footprint in Eternity”, but after all these years it seems important to put it out to the the world in the Internet as well.

The Request: If you will take the time to read this story and find a connection on your INNERnet, how grateful I along with the entire Mereon Team shall be if you will take the time to pass it on. When you finish reading it you will understand why I’m asking for your help.

Yes! I’ll read it!
